Dental Bridge

What is a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge is a fixed dental restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth by bridging the gap between adjacent natural teeth or dental implants. The bridge consists of artificial teeth, known as pontics, which are anchored to crowns placed on the natural teeth or implants adjacent to the empty space. The natural teeth or implants on either side of the gap act as abutments, providing stability and support for the bridge. Dental bridges not only restore the appearance of a complete smile but also improve functionality, chewing ability, and help maintain the alignment of surrounding teeth. Bridges can be made from various materials, including porcelain, metal alloys, or a combination of both, depending on the individual's needs and aesthetic preferences.

Why do I need a Dental Bridge?

A dental bridge becomes essential when one or more teeth are missing, affecting both oral function and aesthetics. Beyond restoring a complete smile, bridges offer crucial benefits, such as preventing adjacent teeth from shifting, maintaining proper bite alignment, and enhancing chewing efficiency. The absence of teeth can lead to structural changes in the jaw and facial appearance, which a dental bridge effectively addresses. At our Winter Haven dental practice, we recommend bridges as a reliable solution, custom-crafted to seamlessly blend with existing teeth, providing patients with a durable and aesthetically pleasing restoration for improved oral health and confidence.
